A team from the U.S. traveled to Ethiopia to connect with local leaders and witness the power of play. They conducted sports camps and soccer tournaments, trained local soccer coaches and facilitated discussions with local church leaders about the impact of sports ministry. They found that getting kids on the playing field helped in their healing from wartime trauma while opening a pathway to hope.

Reinaldo | Coach in Dominican Republic

“What FCA has taught me aligns with what I’m taught at church about basic Christian life principles. There hasn’t been a separation from my walk with Christ and coaching. It has enhanced my ability to carry out the call of Christ, to make more disciples.”

Rukia | Lacrosse Athlete in Kenya

“I seek to grow as a disciple of Jesus by staying rooted in God’s Word and reflecting His character on and off the field. I aim to demonstrate love, humility and perseverance, using my game to point others to Christ. Through competition, I’ll disciple others by sharing my faith, serving teammates and showcasing God’s glory.”

Ucionne | Leader in South Africa

“I love how [FCA] brings so many people from different nations, with the same goal under one roof,” she said. “And it gives us tools for our toolbox and teaches us how to use them.”

Wonmin | Volunteer in South Korea

“Through FCA, I’ve learned that God has guided me and given me a privileged life, not simply a normal one. There will be challenging times, but it will make me rely even more on God and depend on Him.”

Andrew | Leader in Ukraine

People have become really open to the Gospel. People ask how I can be smiling and why I’m not nervous, and I tell them it’s because I know my final destination. And then I get to talk to them about eternal life. My foundation is the Bible and prayer. That is what is giving me strength. I don't know how you can go through something like war without Jesus.”

Penny | Leader in Malaysia

“Everyone can be a game changer. An individual driven with the right heart, together with the right people, can change a community.”
